Judy Lipson believes that “There Are No Lazy Students”, only individuals who have not fully realized their potential. She works with public and private schools, and directly with families and students, including those with:
- Attention Deficit Disorder
- Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Work or School-related Anxiety
- Learning Disabilities and Unconventional Learning Styles
When counseling, she often incorporates Guided Imagery, metaphors and metaphysical concepts to help individuals improve their well-being, prepare for medical procedures and respond to life changes. She works primarily with adolescents and adults.
Judy’s business, Spiral Wisdom LLC, is the result of spirals seen in her early meditations. She loves the symbolism represented by the spiral: She believes that as we learn aspects of ourselves (Wisdom), it is revisited and further enhanced as we Spiral upward in our growth and knowledge. She sees her role as facilitator: inquiring, guiding, and helping you to connect with your deeper knowing, to dissolve resistance and to find personal peace. She believes that as you shift the energy that dictates your experiences, you can release fear and anger, and allow relaxation and self-love to be enhanced.
In her 30-year career, Judy held many positions within Troy Schools including self-contained classroom for the emotionally impaired, resource room teacher, Teacher Consultant and Student Services Counselor. Her career included work in elementary, middle, and high school, providing direct instruction as well as consultation with general education teachers and students. During that time she was nominated for the Teacher of the Year Award by a parent and her colleagues.
Her areas of specialization include:
- Educational Strategies
It has been Judy’s privilege to be provided with an excellent “education” by her (now adult) children. In addition, her students have helped her to understand the nuances of academic difficulty and to know effective strategies. Additionally, she has participated in a more formalized education to remain current in her fields by regularly attending workshops and conferences that advance her skills in the areas of:
- Accommodations and Modifications
- Aspergers Syndrome
- Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Bullying and Empowerment
- Counseling Techniques
- 504 Plans
- Guided Imagery
- Health and Wellness
- Peer Mediation
Judy’s formal degrees and certifications include:
- Associates Degree in Mental Health from Oakland Community College
- Bachelor of Science from Marygrove College in Special Education – Emotionally Impaired
- Master of Arts from Oakland University in Guidance and Counseling
- Teacher Consultant Certification (State of Michigan)

Judy has presented at numerous conferences as well as for community organizations, parent groups and professional organizations. She served as a board member of WISDOM (Women’s Interfaith Solutions for Dialogue and Outreach in MetroDetroit) and is currently a board member for the Greater West Bloomfield Community Coalition for Youth.
To enhance the meditation practices of her clients, Judy produced Spiral Meditations 1: Relax and Balance. Additionally, she was invited to appear on Cable TV to be interviewed about anxiety.
